Kursbeskrivning

The Nordic countries are much alike in many areas, but there are great differences within employment law. Therefore, BG Institute now offers a unique specialization of the course Nordic employment law 1 – similarities and differences.

The course addresses more subjects on a deeper lever than employment law 1 – similarities and differences. To maximize the relevance of the content and get close to reality, the lecturers include practical cases that you most likely will encounter at your workplace. This in-depth course is therefore of great relevance for people who work with and are responsible for employment law issues at companies with employees in the various Nordic countries.

BG Institute offers the course Nordic employment law in collaboration with lecturers from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. Focus during the day lies on Denmark, Norway, and Finland, where the Swedish perspective gradually will be highlighted.

In order to give an accurate picture of employment law in the Nordic countries, this course is held by one lawyer from each country. The course is held in English and moderated by lecturers from Sweden.

As participant you will receive an in-depth study of the differences and similarities in employment law in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland in areas such as:
  • Permitted forms of employment
  • Termination of employment due to redundancy
  • Termination due to personal reasons
  • Transfer of business – theory and practice
  • The employer and GDPR – how should we handle information to employees and inquiries about e.g., access requests
  • Discrimination
 

Target Group:

HR managers, HR directors, HR personnel, Personnel manager and others who have responsibility for personnel in one or more Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and/or Finland.)

This course is a part of a series consisting of three courses that takes up different parts of Nordic employment law.

Nordic Employment Law 1- Similarities and differences

The first course highlights the main differences regarding employment law between the Nordic countries.

Nordic Employment Law 2- Advance course

The second course is an advance extension of day one and will address several topics on a deeper level.

Nordic Employment Law 3- Redundancy and reorganizations

The third course is independent and is aimed to participants who wishes do dive even deeper into Nordic employment law. The course will discuss the regulations for dealing with labor shortages and reorganizations in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. These rules differ considerably both materially and in terms of the formalities which are to be observed.

Kursledare

Antti Rajamäki works as an employment law counsel at Dottir Attorneys and advices clients on all employment law related matters such as terminations, co-operation procedures, collective agreements, transactions and director agreements. He is also an experienced litigator before the Finnish courts and a frequent lecturer on employment law related topics.

Håkon Andreassen is partner at Norwegian employment law boutique firm Storeng, Beck & Due Lund. He has extensive experience from all key areas within collective and individual labour law. In addition to his general law practice, he has previously worked as a lawyer in the employers’ organization KS and as deputy judge.

Johan, lawyer, and co-owner of EdpLaw law firm. He assists both Swedish and international companies within employment law, especially in relation to restructuring, transfer of operations, employment contracts, loyalty issues and union negotiations. Johan has also represented clients in disputes within in employment law, in district court and Swedish labour court.

Jonas Enkegaard is a partner with the law firm Skau Reipurth in Copenhagen. He specialises in employment and labour law. He advises Danish and international enterprises, public authorities, and organisations on all aspects of employment and labour law, both the relationship between the company and the individual employee and issues relating to collective agreements. He is specialised in employee relations in connection with corporate acquisitions, executive service agreements and in drafting agreements concerning employees’ employment conditions, including bonus schemes, employment contracts and severance agreements, etc.

Jonas Enkegaard also deals with issues relating to public employment and collective agreements. In addition, he advises on employment matters in connection with delegation of employees, including delegation contracts, choice of law rules, rules concerning social security and applications for work permits.

Jonas Enkegaard has the right to appear before the Danish High Courts and he assists many companies with dispute resolution before the ordinary courts and arbitration courts.

He is editor and co-author of several books and articles on employment and labour law.
