GSM and GPRS Signalling
The GSM and GPRS Signalling course provides an in-depth description of protocols and signalling procedures used in the 2G part of modern GSM/GPRS networks. It contains detailed descriptions of layer 2 and 3 protocols, their functions, messages and structures. It also covers many aspects of the physical layer of the radio interface, MS behaviour, EDGE-related additions and also some information on core network protocols.
Signalling flows for a number of signalling procedures are investigated step by step, looking at each message and its contents in detail. When relevant, the signalling flows on both higher and lower protocol layers (on the same interface) are examined.
